3270v3.5 is originally from dxcsftp.cern.ch directory 3270.stuff. Directory 3270v is a 3270 emulator for workstations or general 3270 gateway for asynchronous terminals. The corresponding compressed tar file will be 3270v.tar.Z The emulator is tested on Ultrix, Apollo, Sun, RS6000 and maybe some other workstations. It is currently BSD: System V or POSIX one of these fine days. Directory TAGIBMp is the shell script and a complete (!) set of surrounding utilities which let the 3270 emulator be part of a general purpose gateway to allow asynch terminals(normally on LAT terminal servers) access to any available IBM. Some of the utilities might be of use to other people: look at the README stuff there to decide. 3270v3.3 is a very old version. 3270v3.4 is the old version. It does fix some bugs existing in 3270v3.3. 3270v3.5 is the standard version. It does fix some bugs existing in 3270v3.4, plus some idiosyncracies found in different workstations. Important to TAGIBM installers ========= Version 5.0 of TAGIBM expects to find the TAGIBM shell script in /usr/local/bin/3270. However, this will in future be the normal place for the actual emulator itself, as defined in the Makefiles for 3270v3.4 and subsequent versions: this is in line with general practice. Version 5.1 of TAGIBM expects the shell script to be somewhere else, normally /usr/local/bin/3270shell: this name is in the lat3270.c program which forms part of TAGIBM. This is the case with version 5.1. Therefore, people upgrading to 5.1 MUST be a bit careful! Version 5.2 of TAGIBM is virtually the same as 5.1, except that it uses 3270v3.5 and has a minor mod to the calls of ps. Note that these calls of ps are sometimes to check a process number in order to look into the syslog for a message from that process. When that process is telnetd you must make sure that you have the correct version of this daemon: some versions of Ultrix had a daemon without the required message.
