Circumvesuviana (around Vesuvius) is a train company operating around the city of Napoli (Naples). Their network is built of 950 mm gauge and is fully electrified. They have 142 km of route with a total of 96 stops or stations. There are two types of trains, the older type being FE220 and the newer ETR211. Their first route was opened already 1885 and the last one, branch line Pomigliano d´Arco - Acerra in 2005. In 2012 Circumvesuviana as a company was absorbed into the regional entity Ente Autonomo Volturno.
This train is a "Metrocar" ETR211 of which there are 26 in service. These were built by Firema and AnsaldoBreda. The stylish chassis was designed by the famous design studio Pininfarina. This train is here serving the longest, "blue" route from Porta Nolana to the city of Sorrento, a line which has 36 stops and which takes 68 minutes for the train to run end to end.
