IBM Network Door/2 Frequently Asked Questions ============================================= Q01: NetDoor/2 supports OS/2 clients running in a OS/2 LAN Server or TCP/IP network. Are other operating systems or network types supported? A01: NetDoor Development is currently working on versions of NetDoor for DOS Windows clients and is adding Novell Netware server support. No release date for these versions of the product are available. Q02: Can NetDoor/2 help install xxx from a CID code server? A02: NetDoor/2 is not a CID installation program. The NetDoor/2 product pre-reqs IBM LAN Server and NTS/2 *or* TCP/IP for OS/2. Both of which provide an excellent infrastructure on which to build a CID code server (the server where product installation images are installed) and on which to setup a CID installation process. Also, the NetDoor/2 installation program is CID enabled, and can easily be installed from a remote code server rather than from diskette. As an aid to the network administrator, NetDoor/2 includes a utility called CSDM/2, which can be used to setup a Q&A interface for generating a response file to be used as part of the CID process. This is ideally used during a pull-installation of the NetDoor/2 product from a code server, whenever the administrator wishes to shield some of the NetDoor options from the user (and pre-fill the response file with known values) but still allow the user to fill-in some of the specific questions. So, NetDoor/2 can be used to aid in the setup of a CID installation process for products and programs that are CID-enabled. You need to is setup your products on a CID code server and supply the transport mechanism for the installation. NetDoor/2's pre-req software supplies all this.
