Thanks for being so helpful and thoughtful. Several people guessed the mistake I was making: I was trying to put them into the pockets from the trailing-edge side rather than the leading-edge side. (There's a little gap at the trailing-edge side that looks as if it might be the opening of the pocket, but it's not.) I'm not sure how I managed to overlook this. Anyway, when you put the battens in from the leading-edge side, they go right in, just as they are supposed to. No sticky stuff. I also learned that: -- At least some other people have been confused about this; -- Prism Designs, the manufacturere are described as "extremely helpful", "incredibly nice and helpful" "stand solidly behind [their] product" -- I should try flying with the battens in, not only in very high wind, but in anything other than very low wind. The Flying Guide is a very nice booklet, and I looked all through it trying to find out how to insert the battens. The booklet does not have much detail about the individual models of Prism kites. It did say to look at the "Field Guide" card for advice about tuning the kite, but that isn't what I was looking for. In fact, I discovered later that the "Field Guide" card does have a picture of the kites showing how the battens go in. So the answer does indeed lie in the total documentation package, but not where I (and, apparently, you) thought. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Thu, 22 Jun 1995 01:37:45 -1000 From: dlw@odi.com (Dan Weinreb) Message-Id: Organization: Object Design Inc., Burlington, MA Subject: Re: Trouble inserting battens in Prism Eclipse - Solved In article <3rn8be$8b1@newsbf02.news.aol.com> coreykite@aol.com (Coreykite) writes: Lesson: Read the manual.
