Today it's a fact. Let us take a closer look on what Scandinavia can give us today. First out in august 1992 was Radio Fusion International. With music that probably had a very small audience. A typical station for QSL-hunters. Listen-report-collect. Around may '93, Fusion "closed down". Jolly Jake might come back, but if my words were law, JJ should change his style of music. Next out in november was Heavy Dude Radio on 6200 kHz. This station has found it's audince, the crew is crazy - crazy enough to produce shows that someone will listen to. What had HDR become without Mr Goat? Listen to legal radio serving Heavy Rock is unbearable, but Mr Heavy Dude, Hawk and Goat make fun out of listening. In december, next station appeard. It was Starshine Radio with music from the golden age of Rock & Roll. Many stations are playing this kind of music, but Kim is the only one on 76 mb. Starshine was only heard once on 41 mb and too many people connect SR with Fusion, therefor has SR only been on 76 mb. Kim has told me that he had made some tests on 48 mb without any responce. A station that you always can tune in just for listening. Then it took a little while, we had to way until march until next station joined the SC-team. First it was Radio Test, a few weeks later Moonlight and a week later Wave Radio International. Waveman has not been known as a DJ and music-deliver. Normally only QSO, with some music included. WRI has even made some "funny" tests; one was to continue the program from St. Helena with his own, a few minutes after St.Helena c/d. Waveman is very interested in antennas and can spend a week or two build one for just one single occasion. Waveman has told me that someday, real music shows will appear on Wave Radio Int'l. Next out in may '93 from Scandinavia, was Channel Europe with mixed music. CE has only been relayed, via Fusion, SBC and Radio Delta on 41, 76 and 48 mb. This station has also found it's audience. The music is easy to identify, and if their is nothing else on the band, the radio can stay on CE and you can sit back, relax and enjoy. SBC appeard at the same time as Channel Europe. SBC stands for Scandinavian Broadcasting Corporation. No programs of their own, only one test for 15 minutes with Veronica-music. On mediumwave, during july, Radio Camouflage was heard via Pirana on 1509 kHz. This is a station which I don't know to much about. It's a joint project between some of the Scaninavian-operators. Another station with mostly relays appears almost one year after Fusion ,that's Swedish Shortwave Relay Service. This one has some shows by their own, but normally are Radio Safari heard when SSRS are on the air. Radio Safari has as I have heard so far a very basic studio. This together with alot of swedish dancemusic will, unfortunally, make this station to a listen-report-collect QSL-station. If Safari put some feeling in his shows, I think he will be very popular. SSRS is also playing different style of music. Just one in the mass. But never the less, the signal is fare. The OP says it's 100 Watts, I think it's a little bit less, around 70-80 Watts, but the audio are one of the best today. Last out 1993 was Free Radio Norway also with 100 watts. So far I don't have to much information about this station, except that the audio is very good and the OP seems to be a nice chap. This might turn up to be a new number one from Scandinavia. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates: Radio Makahari and Christian Pirate Broadcasting Network have been found to be Scandinavian Free Radio stations. Starshine might appear on 41 mb again. Heavy Dude Radio have no transmitter for the moment. Camouflage will appear 1-2 times / year. Relays from Holland. Channel Europe will soon come back again via SBC. SBC have done several relays sofar. Even one program of their own. Wave Radio Int'l ? Have they closed down? SSRS do bigger and bigger relays. The latest one was Southern Music Radio. Safari is doing an interesting infosheet. With info from the european pirate scene. 73's Swedish Report Service If you whant to leave any messages, leave them to Jonny Augustsson.
