"Dual Synchronous Transmission" is the brainchild of Bill Johnson, owner of KNHN Radio in Kansas City. The idea is to dramatically extend the listening range and clarity of his 1,000-watt AM news and information format radio station. STATIONS WILL BE LINKED: When KNHM Radio's new system is used in April, listeners up to 150 miles away can tune in to the programming. The Federal Communications Commission as approved a link-up of a series of low-powered AM radio stations in the same region that are all on the same frequency and allow them to broadcast the same programming. It's a concept similar to that used for cellular telephones. --Kauto
