I have the 1992 WRTH on order and it should arrive in time for use with next month's column. As predicted last month, the USSR is no more, having been replaced by the Commonwealth of Independent States. Since Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are not part of the CIS, I have separated them into their own sections in the column. R. Vilnius is still being relayed via CIS transmitters for now, but that will probably change. When the Baltic republics switch to using domestic transmitters for the most part, they should probably move over to the Europe column. What do you all think? I haven't had much response on what the new name of the column should be. That's one reason why the column header has not changed (the other being I haven't had time to draw a new one!). I'm leaning toward "CIS" (the obvious) or "The Commonwealth". Please give me some feedback unless you want me to make the decision myself (remember, it's your column). There have been several name changes in the new CIS, so I thought I would make a list of the ones I know about. If you have any additions or changes to this list, please send them to me. USSR -> CIS Byelorussia -> Byelarus Frunze -> Bishkek Kirgizia -> Kirgistan Leningrad -> St. Petersburg Sverdlovsk -> Ekaterinburg Bill Westenhaver reports that as of 1/1/92, Radio Afghanistan is no longer being relayed via transmitters in the CIS (this item per Tom Sundstrom via ANARC SWL net and Media Network). Can anyone confirm this? That's about it for this month. 73, -Jason
