======================================================== iView - Charting Viewer for IAB® Statistics for Windows ======================================================== (Shareware) Copyright © 1996 PRS Corporation ----------- file_id.diz ----------- iView v.613 - IAB Web Stats charting/viewer iView will chart your Web pages access statistics from the Internet Audit Bureau (IAB) by day, week, and month. Straight-line regression analysis. Shareware (US$16.- MC/Visa/Check) P.Schwob PRS Corp. prs@prs.com Web pages on http://www.prs.net/iview ----------- Description ----------- iView uses the World Wide Web access statistics generated by the Internet Audit Bureau to generate charts and graphs for easy interpretations of these statistics. iView can produce charts of all the statistics provided in your (or someone else's) account statistics iAudit page. - Daily - Weekly - Monthly The Daily chart identifies each day by different colors. All charts present a Trend Line taking all readings into account. It is possible to ignore the last data reading as it tends to be incomplete - and may draw the analysis downwards. A measure of fitness (Coefficient of Determination [0% =>R²=>100%]) is provided, together with the arithmetic mean (average) of daily requests for this period. One may select a weighted average instead (more recent data have more weight.) When a chart is displayed, you may simply navigate the mouse pointer on any data line and it will be automatically identified on the display. All charts can be saved to: - a graphics file (.BMP) - a text file (.iab) - hard copy (printer) - a buffer in memory for comparison to another chart. The buffer is quite handy as it allows you to quickly toggle between two charts to compare them. ------------------------------------------------------------- iView can be started in two ways: 1) Automatically 2) Manually In order to start iView automatically, you must set up your WWW browser so that it recognizes files of mime-type "text/iab" and knows that it should automatically spawn (invoke) iView.exe when it receives statistics from the Internet Audit Bureau with mime-type "text/iab". The process is quite simple. (I'll use Netscape's Navigator in this example as it is, by far, the most popular browser out there.) a) Run the iView setup and select a directory for it (I suggest: \netscape\iview) b) Start Netscape's Navigator. c) Select the Options menu d) Select the Helper Applications submenu e) Create a new mime-type with: Mime-Type: text SubType: iab Extensions: iab Select "Browse" and point to \netscape\iview\iview.exe f) Hit "OK" Once this is done, whenever Netscape receives a stats file from IAB with mime-type "text/iab", it will place the data in the temp directory and invoke iView.exe. All you need to do then is to click the "CHART" key to view the data in graphics form. You can then select any one of the other stats and chart them. If you wish to save the data for later retrieval, you can use the "Save As..." function in the File menu. This function will propose to name the file by the current date (yymmdd.iab) - you can amend that as you wish. If you have several IAB accounts, simply insert one unique identifying letter in front of the proposed filename. I suggest you save all such data in the \netscape\iview dir. You can, of course, also start iView manually. It will then bring you back to the last dir you used during the last session and point to the last file viewed. Select the file you wish to see and click "CHART". That's about it. Final point, you must register this software with PRS Corp. to use every charting functions. You may do this with the registration forms available under the Help menu. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Minimum Requirements -------------------- - IBM PC compatible machine; - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later; - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse; - Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors; - VBRUN300.DLL in the \windows\system dir. --------------- How To Reach Us --------------- PRS Corporation can be contacted via: Pierre R.
