"So You Want to Be a Wizard" contains a really great alternate New York that makes so much sense, that personally, I'm not sure that it's completely alternate (complete with killer taxis, menacing subway cars, intelligent rats, and a dragon in the subway). She's one of the top quality Star Trek novelists (an honor she shares with John M. Ford). And her Door into XXX series is a fantasy where the setting (magic, theology, politics) is not just window dressing, but is necessary for the entire story. Her other work includes (flip, flip. flip) stories in some of the later THIEVES' WORLD anthologies (#6 and above), several issues of the STAR TREK comic book, some TV cartoon stories, and a computer game (Star Trek: The Kobayashi Alternative). She's currently living in Ireland with her husband Peter Morwood.
