The Wuppertaler Schwebebahn or suspension monorail train of Wuppertal is a world renowned tourist attraction, but also a daily means of transport for the inhabitants of Wuppertal. The suspension train runs on a line of 13 kilometres, almost entirely over the river Wupper. There are 20 suspension railway stations ranging from Vohwinkel to the Wuppertal Oberbarmen station.

This suspension railcar seen here approaching the station of the main train station of Wuppertal, Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof, is of the type GTW 72 dating back to the year 1972.
