== brasps08.kr{1,2,3} == This three disk archive contains stereo 44.1k samples of a "Big Band" brass section (forte-piano attacks, crescendoing back to forte). The sampling was done by digitally transferring the samples from the Pro-Sonus Sound Library "Brass" disk (track 8) directly into the K2000 (digital inputs). The brass are multi-sampled (every minor third) over a range of two octaves (but producing a usuable/playable range of just over 2.5 octaves). Each note of the multi-sample is actually a small brass ensemble (2-trumpts, trombone, baritone sax) playing the fp crescendo in unison (3 octaves), producing a very rich and full "Big Band" sound, IMHO. BTW, since the brass were all sampled in stereo, each keypress will use up two voices of the 24 notes of available polyphony. Also included in this archive is a SONG, a "quicky" version of "Satin Doll" which is used to demonstrate these brass samples within the context of a jazz "big band" setting. I sequenced it up pretty quickly with Performer (including bank select, patch changes, volume & panning controllers), and then transferred it in real-time while the K2000's sequencer sync'd to the Mac. All of the patch changes are for the v2.0 ROMS (should be compatible with at least v1.3). In order for the Brass patch change to work correctly when playing the demo sequence, you'll need to load (over-write) the patch into bank 200. Just remember that the sequence was thrown in for FREE (no flames, please :-). BTW, the file was named "BRASPS08" to indicate Brass/ProSonus/track 8. Also the samples reqiure about 3MEG of free sample RAM to be able to load. Credits: This Kurzweil patch was sampled, edited, and programmed by Billy Brown utilizing his Kurzweil K2000RS stocked with 34 MEG of RAM and a Quantum LPS-240 hard drive.
